随着我国教育事业的快速发展，越来越多的少数民族学生（以下简称为民族生）进入大学校园，接受高等教育。然而，民族生的英语长期以来水平较低，写作能力尤为薄弱。如何提高民族生的英语写作能力成了民族院校英语教学中的重点和难点。

一、少数民族学生英语学习的现状及写作能力的原因

笔者通过问卷调查法对西北民族大学藏语言文化学院2009级的153名藏族本科生的英语高考成绩进行了调查，其结果如下:60分以上的17人，占学生总数的11.1%；50-59分的15人，占学生总数的9.8%；30-49分的有68人，占44.4%；20-29分的有11人，占7.2%；0分的有42人，占27.4%。其中，约22%的学生从初中开始接触英语，约51%的学生从高中开始接触英语，而27%的学生（即零分的考生）上大学后才开始接触英语；73%的学生接受过听说训练，但词汇量不足5000；97%的学生对自己的英语写作最不满意，认为写作能力，写作水平难以提高。从以上的数据可以看出，民族生的英语学习起步晚、基础、异大。笔者通过问卷调查、访谈和对学生作文的对比研究，发现民族生在英语写作上存在一些共性的问题，主要体现在词汇量偏少,句子语法错误多，内容贫乏空洞,不能体现主题。其原因有以下几点。

1． 受本民族语和汉语的影响。大多数的民族生在日常生活中使用民族语言，在学习英语的过程中，他们往往先把本族语转换成汉语再译成英语。这使得他们难以形成良好的用英语思维的习惯，在用英语写作时经常出现词汇使用不恰当、句法使用不规范、语言思维混乱等问题。

2. 学习英语的动机不足。大多数民族生的家乡属于经济欠发达地区，地理位置偏僻，信息相对闭塞，与外界交流较少，所以他们认为回到家乡工作根本用不上英语，因此学习中有惰性。

3. 受民族意识和民族认同感的影响。民族生非常热爱本民族的文化和语言，认为那是民族身份的标志。因此，在民族生相对集中的班级和宿舍，不讲本族语而讲英语或汉语的民族生会受到其他人的耻笑和排挤。

二、小组合作式英语写作课堂的构建

合作学习是20世纪70年代兴起于美国的一种教学活动。它着眼于学生之间的互动,注重发展学生的自主性和能动性，强调培养学生的社交能力和合作精神，激发学生的学习兴趣，目的是在小组中形成开放、包容的学习氛围，让学生共同进步。大多数英语教师采用传统模式（即教师布置题目，学生写作，教师评改）进行写作教学，这种教学方法不利于激发学生写作的积极性和主动性，造成学生的写作内容干瘪和主题单一。因此,在英语写作教学中运用合作学习显得很必要。笔者从153名学生中随机抽取了80名学生作为研究对象，分为实验班（采用小组合作式写作教学）和对比班（用传统模式教学），每班40人，实验周期为一学期。笔者把实验班的小组合作式英语写作教学分为三个阶段。

1. 写前阶段。教师给出相关话题，简要介绍与该话题写作相关的内容，并给出范文，分析内容要点、与必要句型等，对学生进行必要的指导。这个阶段大约需要30分钟，对于英语基础较的民族生，这样做有利于加大他们对材料的了解。教师在该阶段应充分利用多媒体教学手段，这样既可以节约时间，丰富学生的信息量，又有利于学生的课后复习。

2. 写中阶段。这个阶段分为三个部分。①小组讨论。教师可以根据题目设计一些相关的问题，组织学生以小组的形式讨论，也可以让学生就作文题目进行自主构思并进行讨论，然后撰写写作提纲。该阶段大约需要15分钟。②小组汇报讨论结果。各小组选派代表陈述讨论的结果，相互启发,共享信息。该阶段大概需要10分钟。③写作。小组成员分别写作文,遇见问题可以在组内继续讨论。该阶段持续20分钟左右。

在整个教学过程中，教师应对民族生多加鼓励和赞扬。在评改作文时也要注意自己的措辞，因为民族生在面对汉族教师的批评时会比较敏感，容易产生抵触情绪，且这种情绪容易在整个班级内“传染”，那时小组合作式的课堂将无法进行下去。

在本次实验中，通过对学生的问卷调查、访谈和对课堂的观察，笔者发现与传统教学模式相比，小组合作式写作教学有利于提高民族生的英语写作水平，还有以下几个优势。

1． 增强民族生的自信心，降低他们的焦虑感。因为小组内的成员同属于一个民族，没有语言和文化上的异，民族生的自卑感和焦虑感降低，他们愿意主动地投入到小组合作中，互相帮助，并在合作中增强了信心。而传统教学模式下的英语写作课堂，学生的畏难情绪、焦虑感和自卑感没有发生变化。

2． 有利于师生之间的交流。大部分英语教师是汉族人，在传统教学模式下，民族生们觉得与教师有距离，不愿与教师交流。但在小组合作的课堂中，教师的适时参与既缩短了师生之间的距离，又有针对性地解决了民族生的问题，有利于建立互信互爱的师生关系。

三、结论

笔者在研究中发现，小组合作学习对民族生的英语写作水平有一定的促进作用，但由于条件所限，该研究还存在不足之处。笔者希望有更多的教育者关注民族生的英语教育，从更多的角度对其进行研究，最终达到提高民族生英语水平的目的。
